Mighty Mule Welding & Fabrication: The West Hollywood Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Mighty Mule-compatible welding and fabrication parts throughout West Hollywood, with most bracket, hinge, and arm repairs running between $180 and $420 installed, depending on which Mighty Mule model you have and whether the existing mounting points are salvageable. Most owners discover the failure the same way: the gate starts sagging at the hinge, the opener arm bracket tears away from the post, or the gate stops mid-travel because a weld cracked under California temperature swings. We keep common Mighty Mule weld plates, post brackets, and gate arm tabs on the truck, and we can usually complete the repair same day once we see the damage.

Which Mighty Mule Models This Applies To

This covers the full Mighty Mule swing and slide gate opener lines: the MM and FM series single and dual swing openers, the MM362, MM371, MM372, MM571, MM572, and the newer MMS and MMK series slide models. The welding and fabrication components that fail are consistent across these units: the gate bracket that bolts to the gate frame, the post bracket assembly that anchors the opener to the post or column, the clevis and pin connections, and on slide gates the chain brackets and idler pulley mounts. If you can read the silver model tag on the side of your Mighty Mule control box, write it down before you call. It saves us one trip and tells us which bracket kit your opener shipped with. A word of caution on parts: Mighty Mule changed its bracket geometry between older and current production runs, so a bracket listed as “universal” often isn’t. We match by measurement, not by package label. We are an independent service provider and are not affiliated with Mighty Mule; we source genuine Mighty Mule and quality aftermarket equivalents and tell you which is which before you commit.

Signs Your Mighty Mule Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your Mighty Mule Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • Gate sags visibly at the hinge side. The lower hinge weld or the post bracket has begun to tear away. In West Hollywood’s dry, hot summers, the metal expands and contracts enough to fatigue welds that were marginally sized from the start.
  • The opener arm pulls away from the gate or post. You’ll see the arm angle change or hear a clunk at the start of each cycle. The bracket bolts may still be tight; the steel around them has usually cracked first.
  • The gate stops mid-travel and reverses. The arm is no longer pushing in a straight line because the mount point has shifted. The opener senses the resistance and gives up. This is the machine telling you the geometry changed.
  • You find metal shavings or a loose pin on the driveway. That’s a clevis pin or hinge barrel wearing through. The pin wasn’t the problem; the misalignment that ground it down was.
  • The gate makes a sharp pop when opening after rain. Water got into a micro-crack, rusted it, and the pressure finally broke through. It’s common after the few heavy rains West Hollywood gets each year.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In West Hollywood, you’re looking at these installed ranges for Mighty Mule welding and fabrication work:

  • Gate bracket repair or replacement: $140-$260 depending on whether we weld in place or remove and bench-weld the bracket.
  • Post bracket assembly replacement: $180-$320 including new hardware and touch-up paint to match the post.
  • Hinge weld repair or re-fabrication: $200-$420 depending on hinge size and whether the post is steel, masonry, or decorative metal.
  • Slide gate chain bracket or idler mount repair: $160-$300 including re-tensioning and limit re-check after welding.

The written price covers the part, the labor, the welding consumables, and the documentation you get when we leave. We do not add a trip charge on a repair visit. Before any work starts, you get a flat price on paper. Under our Haven Standard Clause 1, that number does not change unless we uncover hidden damage, in which case we stop, show you, and get your written approval before continuing. All Mighty Mule welding and fabrication repairs are covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a weld fails or a bracket works loose within a year of our repair, we make it right at no charge. DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect your Mighty Mule brackets and hinges on your own. With the opener powered off and the gate disengaged from the arm, look for cracks at the edges of bracket plates, slight gaps where a weld should be flush, or a rust line running along a joint. That rust line is a crack that hasn’t opened yet. What we don’t recommend is pulling out the MIG welder. Welding on a gate that’s still mounted can damage the opener’s control board from stray ground current. Welding on or near a post that carries electrical or low-voltage lines through it is a shock and fire risk. And a weld that looks solid but wasn’t made with the right penetration will fail again, usually right after you’ve reattached everything. If you see a crack, call us at (424) 321-7416. We’ll name the repair, name the price, and leave you with a photo record of what we did.
