FAAC Welding & Fabrication: The West Hollywood Owner’s Guide

We stock and install FAAC-compatible welding and fabrication work for gate operators throughout West Hollywood, with most jobs running between $275 and $650 installed depending on what broke and which FAAC series you have. We carry common FAAC weldments on the truck, so most repairs happen the same day we arrive. Owners typically discover this failure the hard way: the gate starts, stops mid-arc with a groan, and then refuses to close because a welded bracket, hinge pin, or arm attachment has finally let go after years of cycling against West Hollywood’s heat and canyon dust.

We’re an independent service provider, not a FAAC distributor, which means we can be honest about when a weld repair saves you money versus when the part belongs in the scrap bin. Adrian Vance has been welding and fabricating gate components since his commercial access-control days, and the rule on our trucks is simple: if the original lasted eight years, the repair should outlast the motor.

Which FAAC Models This Applies To

This welding and fabrication work applies to nearly every FAAC residential and light-commercial gate operator you’ll find in West Hollywood: the 390, 400, 412, 415, 750, 760, and 770 swing-gate series, plus the FAAC S418, S450, and C720 slide-gate units. The weld points we repair most are the operator mounting plates, the gate-leaf attachment brackets, the articulated arm pins, and the hinge-side reinforcement plates that carry the full weight of a moving gate leaf.

Before we touch a weld, we identify the exact FAAC series from the label on the operator housing. Gotcha worth knowing: the 400-series and 750-series mounting plates look nearly identical, but the bolt pattern is offset by a half inch. Weld the wrong plate on, and the operator binds against the gate post within a week. We measure, we match, we weld. For owners choosing between OEM FAAC weldments and quality aftermarket equivalents, the honest answer is that OEM brackets are stamped steel with fatigue points we see crack at the same place every time. A properly reinforced aftermarket plate, gusseted at the corners, often outlasts the factory part on gates that cycle more than 15 times a day.

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • The gate scrapes the post at the start or end of travel. The welded mounting plate has shifted or the arm attachment is sagging. We usually find the weld cracked through at the base, not along the bead itself, because the stress concentrates where the plate meets the post.
  • The operator runs but the gate leaf hesitates mid-cycle. A hinge pin welded to the gate frame has worn oblong, and the operator is fighting the misalignment. FAAC motors are torque-limited; they’ll fault out before they tear the gate apart.
  • You can see a visible crack at the bracket, with rust staining beneath it. Coastal air and car exhaust in West Hollywood accelerate this. Once moisture gets under the weld, the crack spreads from the inside out. By the time you see the line, the part is done.
  • The gate leaf sags at the latch side by a half inch or more. The hinge-side weldment has carried the leaf’s weight for years, and metal fatigue has allowed the leaf to drop. The FAAC operator keeps working, but the leaf is doing damage to itself.
  • You hear a clank or knock when the gate reverses direction. That’s the arm pin bouncing in an elongated hole. It’s not adjustable, and greasing it buys you about a week. The weldment needs re-drilling or replacement.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed prices for FAAC welding and fabrication work in West Hollywood run from $275 for a simple hinge-pin repair to $650 for a full operator-mounting plate replacement with new gussets and repaint. Most jobs land around $350 to $450. The range depends on three things: whether the original weldment can be salvaged and re-enforced, whether we need to remove the gate leaf to do the job properly, and whether your FAAC series uses the common mounting pattern or the offset 400-series pattern that takes longer to fixture.

Every quote includes the welded part, labor, on-site grinding and prep, rust treatment, and a protective coat. We hand you a written price before the welder comes off the truck. Under Haven Standard Clause 1, the number on that page is the number you pay. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a weld fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.

You can safely check the obvious things: look for visible cracks at the bracket bases, watch the gate leaf as it moves to see if it sags at the latch side, and listen for the clank of a loose pin at reversal. That’s useful information to have when you call us. What we don’t recommend is firing up a home welder on a gate that weighs 400 to 800 pounds. A gate leaf under tension is a serious crush hazard, and a weld that looks fine but isn’t penetrated will fail without warning, usually with a fully loaded gate moving toward someone.

This is the one repair where shortcuts show up immediately, and the consequence isn’t a stubborn motor. It’s a gate leaf on the ground or swinging free. If your FAAC bracket is cracked, call (424) 321-7416 and we’ll get a welder to you with the right plate on the truck.

When a FAAC gate bracket fails in West Hollywood, the repair is rarely optional. If you’re seeing cracks, hearing the clank of a loose pin, or watching the leaf sag, call (424) 321-7416. We’ll send a technician with the part, give you a written price before any work begins, and leave you with a photo record of what was welded, what was replaced, and how it was left.
